When is offshore fitness mandatory?

Anyone working on an offshore platform, a supply vessel or an offshore wind turbine must prove a medical fitness assessment before their first deployment. Most clients in the North and Baltic Sea require the OEUK standard (Offshore Energies UK) or the comparable AWMF standard under guideline 002-038.

The assessment is valid for two years and is typically repeated before the start of a deployment and for renewal. Without a valid certificate, no crew member is allowed on board or onto the platform.

What to bring: ID card, glasses / hearing aids if applicable, previous findings (in particular ECG and lung function printouts), a list of medication taken regularly. We send the medical history form by email beforehand.

„We see around 200 offshore candidates per year — from the wind service crew to platform medics. Finding on the same day, certificate within 24 hours — crew changes have to remain plannable."
